Parent to Parent Suggestions (from our owner):

• Do not allow a young child to go unsupervised with some free hotmail or gmail account.  That's a bad idea!
• Although this is biased toward our company, our promise to parents is that following this will not only reduce your child's bad spam to close to nothing, it will add piece of mind.   We guarantee that!    Do try it, talk to us in the lounge area of our forum as we seek to constantly fine tune our process to help everyone at Parcom.

Steps to getting close to 99.99% of all bad spam messages away from your kids (skip to step 6 if you already have hosting and our barracuda enhanced anti-spam service):

1. You will need a Parcom web hosting account, naturally!   Don't have one yet?   Go here.   If you have ever hosted at any other hosting company and then start to use Parcom, you will already notice a big difference between the amount of spam received at the other host and here at Parcom.  A lot has to do with our security systems, specifically our unique intrusion detection system.   
2. If you have a Parcom hosted account, you can go to our control panel system to login and go to your desired package where you wish to enhance your e-mail further! 
3. In the package, you will have to drill down to the extra features area. Purchase the "Enhanced anti-spam and anti-virus service".   (this is the Barracuda Service) 
4. Go back to the home area of your control panel and select billing and proceed to pay for the new service you just added!
5. Wait 1-2 business days for us to process your request.
6. Each day that goes by you will receive a quarantine message per e-mail account.   What we suggest you do is actually change the default behavior of your child's notices and the best way to do that is to that is to wait for the first spam message and click the note that says "To view your entire quarantine inbox or manage your preferences, click here."   
7. That will take you to the system assigned to you (you can make note of the system name which is something like odo.parcom.net or watto.parcom.net)   If you do not get any quarantine messages in a timely manner, don't worry, that just means you are not getting any spam!  That's a good thing!   You can do an advanced step where you go to the system assigned to you and request the email quarantine message be sent right away.   You do that from the login screen of the barracuda system.  That's more advanced and we typically reserve that discussion for our forum.
8. Once logged in, we strongly suggest you go to the PREFERENCES tab and then go to the QUARANTINE SETTINGS tab.
9. IMPORTANT: In the Quarantine notification area, change the default address to your own e-mail address.  This way your child does not have to deal with this daily quarantine message.   (the default is daily, and we strongly suggest  you not change it)
   
    
10. Now go to the SPAM SETTINGS tab.  Change the quarantine setting to: 0.00001   Why so low?  It assures you catch EVERYTHING.  That's very important for children.
    
     
11. You will have to be very good at training the system.  Each day that goes by your child will receive their usual good and bad e-mails.  It is now your job to TRAIN the system as to what is good and what is bad.  Do NOT use the whitelist feature.   That defeats the purpose of training the system for your child.

This may seem like a lot, but we feel it is worth it to protect your children from child predators, spammers, and some of the worst people in the world.
